We are grounded in a diversity of social science disciplines which ensures rigor and enables our global-perspective approach to problem solving and project delivery. We are devoted to staying up to date with new technology and research approaches.

Global Research team members have diverse personal experiences and backgrounds, with travel being a common interest. That diversity and enjoyment of life and people enhances our research.

Patrick's leadership style has been refined by successfully executing a broad range of research projects, sometimes in uniquely challenging circumstances. The Global Research team is driven by integrity and delivering high quality ethical research.

For each Global Research project we assemble the most appropriate team, based on the needs of the project and the skills and experience of our personnel.

Patrick O’Neill

Managing Director

Patrick Manages the Global Research team. Over the last 18 years he has completed a vast range of projects and gained broad experience, with large fast moving public engagement projects being the most prominent in recent times. Work research experience includes University, Central and Local Government and private business roles.

Recent projects Patrick has completed with the Global Research team have included Christchurch post-earthquake and international projects for organisations such as: City of Melbourne; City of Sydney; Copenhagen based Gehl Architects; Toronto’s 8-80 Cities; Melbourne Water.

In his spare time, Patrick enjoys the cultural and sporting pursuits of his two wonderful children and relaxing on the beach with his wife. He is convinced there is at least one more marathon in the old legs - we will see!


Jeanine Marriott-O’Neill

Director

Jeanine is our highly qualified and experienced company director. She draws from her undergraduate double major in psychology and sociology and post graduate qualifications in teaching, commerce, career and life counselling along with professional experience in Asia, Europe and Australasia.

Jeanine’s vast experience and holistic world view brings new insights and guidance to project planning and execution. She also has significant input into Global Research’s strategic direction, management and culture.

Jeanine’s spare time involves early-morning trail running and after-school activity running for her two talented children.

Megan Apse

Senior Researcher

Megan is an experienced social scientist who holds Master of Applied Science with first class honours and a Post-graduate Diploma with distinction (both in Social Science) from Lincoln University, and Bachelor of Arts from the University of Canterbury. She is highly experienced qualitative analyst, with a hand in large scale public engagement projects for local governments in Melbourne, Sydney, and Wellington.

Megan brings to Global Research experience from her previous roles as an academic researcher, content writer, and employment consultant, as well as a number of volunteer and community roles. When spare moments present themselves, she can be found engrossed in literary fiction or film, and supporting her interest in the sociology of sport by cheering her children on from the sidelines at rugby league.

Naomi McMahon

Senior Researcher

Naomi’s tertiary education (Bachelor of Arts (History and Classics), and Master of Teaching and Learning (Primary)) has prompted an interest in social attitudes and behaviour, which she brings to her role at Global Research.

Over the past 4 years, Naomi’s primary role at Global Research has been analysing qualitative data and turning written comments into insightful reports to allow clients to understand what respondents think and feel, as well as analysing quantitative data and creating infographic summaries.

In her spare time, Naomi has a number of creative hobbies including jewellery making, woodworking and photography. She also enjoys time spent in the outdoors, which is easy to come by being based in Queenstown.

Fraser Graham

Researcher

Fraser recently graduated from Lincoln University, after completing a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture. This study rekindled his interest in how collaborative engagement and public participation processes lead to better outcomes in city placemaking and urban regeneration.

From previous team leader roles, Fraser brings a wealth of experience in website management and communication in local, regional and central government, where he gained a thorough understanding of how large organisations interact, engage and respond to public needs.

As a researcher Fraser is focussed on developing and supporting new engagement tools that better encourage inclusive online participation. His well-rounded experience, attention to detail and personable manner ensures he delivers quality outcomes for every assignment he contributes to.


Sienna Kelly

Research Analyst

Sienna recently joined the Global Research team after completing a Post-graduate Diploma in Land and Society at Lincoln University. After working in conservation, she was inspired by the power of social science to contribute to systematic change.

At Global Research Sienna enjoys working on community engagement projects and communicating participants opinions while developing her qualitative analysis and report writing skills. The most prominent projects she has worked on are the Human Rights (Incitement on Ground of Religious Belief) Amendment Bill for the Ministry of justice and the Draft Speed Management Plan for Wellington City Council.

Sienna’s hobbies include dancing, gardening, and rock climbing. On the weekends she enjoys relaxing with friends and playing board games.


Jocelyn Henderson

Research Analyst

Jocelyn is a key member of our analysis team. Her experiences of a range of cities and countries through travel, combined with an arts and environmental academic training, enables her to bring a holistic perspective to the categorisation, synthesis and analysis of qualitative data received to inform city development projects. Jocelyn’s grounding in environmental policy means she enjoys supporting councils to develop sustainable and healthy cities.
